hello?repeat 022 brings flash and anavi. both tracks in essence bring a linear and continuous flow, to many, a daze maxim signature in the sense that each element does not scream for attention alone, it is the combination of them which creates the overall impact. a dose of what we need when we need it. it is to do with structure, it is about the way in which elements are thrown in adding that bit of surprise effect which is able to stunt and amuse us all in a very good way. flash starts with a solid bass line, the vocal flash, a hypnotic cosmic/trippy element and a hoovering noise on the background making up the intro. the locomotive sounding high-hats then slam in, which together with the bass line complete a dance floor bliss of a track with all that groove.

for the next release on his mb disco label, martin brodin licences *nka mo dira* - one of the biggest downloads in south african music history, which has also had its music video voted as the best of the year by the star newspaper. the track then gets some fine remix treatment from the boss himself as well as full pupp label boss and disco pin up prins thomas.

featuring new material and recorded in the bands isolated studio on the edge of the essex marshes, the album ebbs and flows in mood like the nearby blackwater estuary. working with a palette of vintage drum machines, analogue synths, textural samples, acoustic recordings, electric bass & heavily treated guitar, the songs were born out of captured live studio performances.

is it balearic drop a 10 inch slice of acid house perfection from one of the true masters of the genre in foolish felix dickinson! *ousana* grows slowly over a driving house beat as warm synth pads and synth leads take the track along nicely with a subtle acid line until the bassline drops. a vocal refrain joins the groove seductively cooing *i want to take you home* over the acid layers that develop in deeply hypnotic fashion. straight into the basement. on the flip coyote take the tempo down, bring out the percussion and create a balearic acid stomper. bleeps dubbed out vocals all swirl around the percussive rhythms then the acid line drops subtle and reminiscent of a certain acid house classic. early doors or at the beach bar for this mix.

in 2011 when mad mats and tooli went to sonar festival in barcelona they met ludovic llorca aka art of tones outside a club. little did they know back then that two years later on they would release a 12 inch together. the same thing ep opens with the title track and kicks pretty damn sweet with its strong vocal, the guitar, bass and rhodes jamming on top of a tight groove, there is also a dub version included on the b-side. last but not least, the great sgatmi is a jazzy and bumpy house take with lots of samples perfectly balanced. all in all, classic art of tones material and the work of a producer firing on all cylinders.

great new downwards remix project from russell haswell. forerunner to a new 10 track lp ! haswells improvised modular synth recordings are given the radical remix treatment. fellow midlander, regis, delivers a beat driven techno noise mulch classic, then, the legendary whitehouse founding member, and more recently cut hands, william bennett, has spatialized the original mono source into a stereo head fucking, brain floss session. the entire b side of this ep is given over to chicagos experimental music master, kevin drumm, who expands the chosen track into a striking 8 minute noise/ambient conundrum

slams new three track single flawlessly encaptures the modern drumcode sound. movement trundles forward with snare rolls and funky percussion. the synth line keeps the funky groove rolling along until the snare roll break where it then crescendos effortlessly back into the track. the realms synth line weaves in and out of the beat, filtering up and down to create intensity before unleashing itself into aural pleasure. irrational numbers takes an unusual rhythmic synth pattern and creates a groove that will make the dance floor shuffle. layered with pads, the track uses depth to create a distinctive character

keeping up a high rate of release but just as high level of quality, the cinematic label turns to german dj, producer and exploration label boss johannes volk for its next ep, with a typically idiosyncratic remix from greek dub techno man xdb. volk has been producing conceptual techno since 2006, debuting with a fine ep on the revered axis label run by techno royalty jeff mills. since then he has continued to evolve on labels like steffis dolly as well as his own vinyl only imprint, and does so once again on this release.

sam walton is a 22 year old producer from manchester who came to hyperdub after feeding them demo tracks, and started off in 2011 with the *walton ep*, the first of three eps for the label. since then he has honed and developed his music into *beyond*, finding a really fresh and subtle intersection between music that doesnt seem to naturally fit together, old eski grime, funky and detroit house and techno but with smudged edges and a colourful industrial sound palette that gives a real richness to his productions.

we got a remix pack for the vita (infinity) project on a nice collectable limited transparent blue, smokey marbled vinyl 10. remixes are done by non other then heinrich mueller, ovatow and versalife as hexagon. also included on here is the beautiful and really deep vita original the ending that will be exclusive for this release. check em out. enjoy the cold summer or whatever..

the second release from swedens tommy awards is another essential 4 track ep. side a continues from where the first ep left off, with two tracks of blissful balearic vibes. if you liked land of lights recent release then this should definitely appeal to you. side b reveals another side to tommy awards and shows the guys are no slouch when it comes to producing in the electronic realm, employing vintage synths and drum machines to create gale force, the ballad of the wind. for the final track, is it balearic head honchos coyote take on the difficult task of remixing last years classic, blind andy, and come out victorious, adding elements of acid and making the track altogether deeper. is it summer yet?

legowelt brings us two tracks with his trademark dancefloor drums punching through analog layers of melody and atmosphere. willie burns takes us on a hypnotic journey through the grooving crunchiness of a lost underground new york and then deep into the stars. like lovers separated by prison glass, these tracks come from very different places but they all serenade you to the dancefloor and take you into a maze of hazy visions.

multi-faceted canadian artist james teej drops his second lp, eight bit ocean on sashas last night on earth imprint. releasing his first james teej singles in 2008, teej has since become a firm fixture on the electronic music circuit with releases for we play house, rebirth, supernature and no.19 music as well as a debut lp on radio slaves rekids in 2010 entitled evening harvest. since then, teej has joined old friends jared simms and voytek korab to become one third of my favorite robot, an act which is steadily becoming another of torontos break-outs via tracks and remixes for visionquest and crosstown rebels as well as their own highly regarded my favorite robot records.

nice price deal !!! sister label to vanguard sound anunnaki cartel plays host to the fourth installment of the vanguard sound series featuring 4 tracks from crew members dakini9 (lola), chris mitchell, dj. spider, and founder amir alexander. during the time since vanguard sound vol. 3 launched the vanguard sound label, the series has reached a kind of cult classic status among the most dedicated u.s. underground vinyl collectors. as more and more people discover alexander and his crew of ultra talented dj/producers, their releases on discogs disappear and then reappear for three to five times their original price.

i-robots is an alias of opilec music boss gianluca pandullo, a long time dj and producer with a penchant for classic techno and electro cosmic disco. for his next project in the esteemed i-robots reconstructions concept series the italian re-edits some classic material, all with the permission of the original artists. the tracks in question are derrick mays hugely influential *emanon* cut, recorded under his rhythim is rhythim alias and originally released in the 1990s on his own seminal transmat records label – one of the most important imprints in the early days of techno alongside kms and metroplex. the second track – which was first released on metroplex, the label juan atkins founded in 1985 and then re-released and reworked on sound vision - is *game one* produced by the legendary juan atkins and orlando voorn as infiniti. the latter of these pair has already released a number of times on the opilec music label.

prime numbers return with m7. the first side is taken by a remix of wireman’s >armour<, the original of which was included on pn04 released at the end of last year. the remix is from move d (deep space network, source records), he ups the tempo and in trademark fashion softens the surfaces of the original, warming the core of the track whilst creating a bass heavy groove with twisting beats, synths and a husky hypnotic vocal sample. the flip includes two tracks. to start we have >crushed< by actress. darren j. cunningham aka actress runs the much lauded werk records and this track is taken from his limited cd only album >hazyville< (released on werk in the autumn of last year ) >crushed< is slo-mo, extra bass heavy, low slung house with an addictive lofi synth riff and submerged strings. the track bumps along with hiss and crackle to good affect before turning into a badalamenti-esque loop to finish. to round things off be, the up & coming manchester based producer provides >when you left<. be cut his teeth with the chicago based still music and a great al hudson reedit which found extensive dj support on its release. >when you left< is a shuffling downbeat house groove with a jazz sentiment featuring deep rhodes keys and clipped drums, the track breaks up into a bluesy accapella section then builds up to a more direct 4/4 groove to the end

claus voigtmann makes his vinyl debut on lisbon’s assemble music, applying the same high standards to his productions as he does to the toi toi parties he co-organises in london. in fact, you can imagine ‘spin’ greeting you on arrival in a moodily-lit shoreditch basement, its growling interplay of bass and kick drum instantly familiar and pleasurable. the plunging bass and pinpoint kicks of ‘junago’ bring to mind the refined soundspaces of peter ford or ‘the au harem’-era villalobos. it’s the kind of track that comes into its own the later the night gets, and just as the elements interlock then writhe apart from each other you can imagine the dance floor doing the same.
